With Bellagio, our itinerary is complete

It was 2002, I believe. Ten years ago. Traveling alone in Italy with five days to spare, I pointed the rental car north and discovered, unwittingly, Lake Como. George Clooney hadn’t purchased Villa Oleandra yet (that came a few months later). They say the lake changed after Clooney’s arrival. I hope it hasn’t changed much, because we’ve just rented an August apartment there.

An Apartment in Puerto Vallarta

We have returned from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. It was hot and muggy, but the alternative was rain in Portland. In Portland when it rains, there’s no escaping the wet. In Puerto Vallarta when it gets hot, there’s always the Pacific. And the margaritas…

The Spanish visa

If we intend to stay in Spain for more than ninety days, we’ll need visas. My investigation began today with a visit to The Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation website which, among other things, is charged with “promoting Spain’s economic, cultural and scientific relations.”

These are the people who will issue our visas and they’re interested in promoting a cultural (and economic) relationship with us. Cooperation! It’s right there in the title.
