Egads! It’s Thursday. Today is our last day in Bellagio — in Europe, even. We just found the best pizza in town and we still haven’t found the fabled two-dollar beer. We can’t leave yet!

It was 2002, I believe. Ten years ago. Traveling alone in Italy with five days to spare, I pointed the rental car north and discovered, unwittingly, Lake Como. George Clooney hadn’t purchased Villa Oleandra yet (that came a few months later). They say the lake changed after Clooney’s arrival. I hope it hasn’t changed much, because we’ve just rented an August apartment there.

We’ve been discussing Life After Girona lately. Ireland? Italy? Switzerland?
Or, maybe, no plans at all. Perhaps we’ll wait until the last minute – the 88th day in Girona? – before we decide where to go next.
