100 sculpture

This is post #100 on the Expat Almanac. It’s a milestone, of course, but one without any real significance. It does serve, however, our psychological needs. Why do we post? For the same two reasons, I suppose, that people post on Facebook or tweet on Twitter: the need to belong and the need for self-presentation. (The link points to a Boston University study that found those two primary reasons for participation in social media.)

The need to belong, in our case, is the need to stay in touch with our friends and family. The blog does that, no matter where we may roam. The need for self-presentation is an artifact of two retired professional writers. Our work rarely appears in print any longer, so we create our own publishing platform and write according to our own guide- and deadlines.

I could analyze this for another ten thousand words, but I’d rather brag:

  • 100 posts
  • 15 months
  • 1 award

That is soooo cool! Thank you all, Dear Readers, for rewarding our blog with those numbers. We’re honored and humbled.
